Heat Proofing

Roof heat proofing in Agra

In May and June an exposed concrete roof in Agra gets far hotter than the air around it, and it holds that heat well into the night. Heat proofing puts something between the sun and your slab.

Why It Matters Here

The top floor is always the worst floor, and this is why

Agra summers routinely run past 45°C. A bare RCC slab absorbs solar heat all day, stores it, and then radiates it downward into the rooms below for hours after the sun has gone. That is why the top floor stays uncomfortable late into the evening, and why the air conditioning up there runs hardest and longest.

A reflective or insulating roof system reduces how much of that heat the slab takes on in the first place. Less heat in means a cooler room below and less demand on the air conditioner.

There is a second benefit that people rarely think about. Heat is what drives the expansion and contraction that cracks terraces in the first place. Reducing the temperature swing your slab goes through takes stress off the structure — and off whatever waterproofing is on it. Heat proofing and waterproofing protect each other.

Our Method

How we heat proof a roof

01

Assess the roof

Its condition, any existing coatings, the drainage, and whether the waterproofing needs attention at the same time. There is no point coating over a roof that is about to leak.

02

Prepare the surface

The same principle as any coating system: it bonds to what is underneath, so what is underneath has to be sound and clean.

03

Apply a reflective or insulating system

Selected for your roof and how it is used — a terrace people walk on has different requirements from one that is never used.

04

Combine with waterproofing where it makes sense

Doing both in one visit is normally cheaper than doing them a year apart, and it means one properly sequenced job rather than two that may not be compatible.

05

Check and hand over

We walk the finished roof with you and explain what maintenance, if any, it needs.

Setting Expectations

What we will not claim

You will find plenty of contractors quoting exact temperature drops and precise electricity savings. The honest position is that the result depends on your roof, your building, your insulation, how you use the rooms below and how hot that particular summer is.

What we can tell you at the inspection is what system suits your roof, what it is designed to do, and what the manufacturer publishes about its performance. We would rather give you that than a number invented for a brochure.
